The work introduces a new approach for generating loss-tolerant photonic states using simple quantum optical resources. The proposed top down protocol reduces the time for which photons remain exposed to loss during the state generation process, enabling more efficient deterministic state emission. It also introduces asymmetric code structures tailored to the correction procedure, improving the loss tolerance capabilities while reducing the required number of photons. Together, these advances increase the predicted communication rates and lower the hardware requirements for all-optical repeater based quantum networks.
