On the Schrödinger-Newton equation

Room: 204
Speaker: Ario Altamura
The Schrödinger-Newton (SN) equation merges Quantum Mechanics and Newtonian gravity for point particles, as it can be obtained as the Newtonian limit of the semiclassical Einstein equations. For a system of particles described in the center of mass coordinates, the SN dynamics of the uncertainty ellipse of the system differs from the standard Schrödinger evolution. The aim of our work is to develop a strategy to enhance the modifications predicted by the SN equation in order to make it testable with current technologies.
